Fat Family in Front of Fast Food Background

Obesity Faqs

Q. What is the Main Cause of Obesity?

A. This answer is difficult because there isn't much agreement among scientists. The main drivers for obesity are sugar, sedentary lifestyle, and fast food.

Q. What Should an Obese Person Do?

A. The surgeon general thinks we should exercise 30 minutes per day, watch less than two hours of television per day and to severely limit sugar intake.

Q. Why is Sugar so Bad?

A. It is not just the calories that do not fill you up. Sugar increases appetite and stimulates metabolic insulin syndrome; both of which make you fat.

Q. Why do people discriminate against fat people?

A. The US culture has a concept of beauty as being thin. It is ingrained in television, movies, and nearly all forms of entertainment. Since being lean is worshipped, being fat is to be avoided and that leads to discrmination. The irony of the whole thing is that obese people discriminate against other obese people for being fat.
